TRI (TOTAL RECORDABLE INCIDENT CASES)

Measures the number of work-related injuries and illnesses, based on OSHA reporting guidelines. Details regarding recordability of nonfatal work-related injuries and illnesses can be found here: https://www.osha.gov/recordkeeping/entry-faq. Total recordable incidents indicates both minor and major injuries and illnesses that required medical treatment or resulted in lost workdays. TRI cases can also be expressed as a rate. The incident rate calculation is: (N/EH) x 200,000, where N = number of injuries and illnesses; EH = total hours worked by all employees during the calendar year; and 200,000 = base for 100 equivalent full-time workers (working 40 hours per week, 50 weeks per year).
