These charts and tables provide estimates of comprehensive, preventable injury-related costs paid by employers and government, broken down by class. Wage-risk premiums were the single biggest expense to employers, followed by medical expenses; those two categories flipped for government.

Government agencies are also employers. Employer and government data are not mutually exclusive and should not be added together.

We made major revisions to our cost model in 2014 to take advantage of new data sources that were not previously available. These changes mean that previous estimates are not comparable to these current estimates.
