Alcohol-Impaired Driving

In 2021, Mississippi experienced the smallest percentage of alcohol-impaired deaths (20%), while Montana experienced the highest (44%).

Nationally, 10% of deaths involved BAC levels of between 0.08 to 0.14 g/dL, while 21% involved BAC levels of 0.15 g/dL or higher. Looking at Mississippi (the reporting area with the lowest percent of alcohol-impaired deaths), 6.9% of deaths occurred in crashes with 0.08 to 0.14 g/dL BAC levels, while 13.2% occurred at BAC levels of 0.15 g/dL or higher.
